Moved from Pinegrove Township, Schuylkill Co., PA about 1806. Will probated September 27, 1815 in Montgomery Co., Ohio. I have a copy of the will, handwritten, which reads as follows: In the name of God Amen. Know all men by these presents that I Henry Gephardt but of a sound memory and understanding calling to mind the mortality of my body and the immortality of my soul, I therefore recommend my soul to God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian manner by the discretion of my Executors therein after mentioned. My worldly effect that it hath pleased God to bless me with I wish to have devided in manner following first I constitute and ordain for all my just debts to be paid. I further give and bequeath to my true and loving wife Magdalene one cow and two calfs the beurow my bible and the stove and all the linen that I now have and all the flax and all the shugar wool for a coverlet and as much of the kitchen furniture as she pleaseth to take. One quarter of beef, 2 hogs and corn to fatten them, one good bed and spinning wheel and the coper kittle and one years provition all the above named articles she shall have for by the third part of all my estate real and person during her natural life. The remaining part of my estate I dispose of as follows to wit my plantation to be sold at publick sale and also the personal property except the wagon that my son Philip shall have if he pays forty dollars to the estate and also one chest which I yet give to my wife. I constitute and ordain that my estate except what is above mentioned to eaqually devided amongst my surviving children hereafter named to my son Henry, my son John, my son George, my son Philip, my son Jacob, my daughter Margret Weaver, Magdelene Shnepp, Eve Apple, share and share alike, I also do hereby constitue and ordain my trusty sons Philip and Jacob Gephart my whole and sole Executors of this my Last Will and Testament. I do also empower my said Executors to sell and convey my real property as if I were present myself and to be as binding on my heirs whereunto I have set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty seventh day of September one thousand eight hundred and fifteen.
