From "Centennial Biographical Record of Dayton and Montgomery County":
Moved from Berks Co., Pennsylvania to Montgomery County, Ohio in 1805, entering land in Jefferson Township, eighty acres, which he cleared up and lived upon about seven years. In 1813 he removed to Jackson township and there bough 160 acres, which he made his permanent home, clearing up this latter farm from the woods. He became prosperous because of his steady, industrious habits, bought more land, and gave eighty acres to each of his children. He was a Lutheran in religion, and was one of the founders of the Slyfer church, in connection with Philip Slyfer. This church was founded in 1819 and is still in existence. Politically, Mr. Apple was a democrat and was one of the foremost citizens of Jackson township. He was one of the sturdy pioneers, and an honorable man. His father, John, later came to this country, and here passed the remainder of his days.

Info from Harold Apple Sr. 6/99: born 7/4/1776, and died 5/4/1865.

Information from Family Tree Maker on-line gives his birth date as July 4, 1778.

The International Genealogical Index gives his death date as May 4, 1852 (as recorded in FTM), but says his age was 73 years, 1 month, which would make his birth date April 4, 1779.

From "History of Dayton and Montgomery County," sketch on great-grandson Perry Apple: This Henry came to Ohio from Pennsylvania, and in the course of his long and useful life, followed several occupations, all very necessary in those early days. He was a blacksmith by trade, farmed for his vocation and also ran a distillery that was famous for its applejack, creating fame and reputation for its owner.
