Notes for Anna Maria Barbara Nagel
Online information dated 11/17/1998 gives her birthdate as March 16, 1735/36. Information from the LDS Library family files gives her birthdate as 1736 (year only), but in Lebanon Co., Pennsylvania. Anna Maria Barbara Nagel is listed in LDS data as the daughter of Anthony Nagel, born about 1705 in Bethel Twp., Dauphin Co., Pennsylvania; and as the daughter of Johann Jacob Nagel, born about 1711 in Germany and having siblings Anna Maria Nagel born 1732 in Germany and Philipp Daniel Nagel, born 1734 in Germany.

From "A Genealogical Index of Miami Valley Pioneers, Ohio," Montgomery County: STOEVER, (STAVER, STIVER), Casper; John Casper Stoever, b. Mar. 16, 1736, in Penna., died at Germantown, Ohio, July 1821. A grandson of the immigrant missionary, Johannes Casper Stoever. He served as a Captain in the Rev. War,; m Apr. 26, 1754, Barbara Nagel. His will rec. July 24, 1821, names wife Barbara; sons, Casper, Adam, Tobias, residing in the State of Penna.; Frederick, John; Dau. Margaret, wife of George Romberger, Catharine, wife of George Shaffer, Maria, wife of Anthony Canning Dec'd, Christena, wife of Christian Shuder. (See complete record "Our Forefathers". Sunday Journal, July 15, 1934). I hope I have assigned spouses to the correct children! The information about his being a Captain in the Revolutionary War makes sense in light of the information I got from Ada Cook (first cousin of my grandmother Goldie Mader Wehneman) that John Casper Stoever III served as a pallbearer at the funeral of George Washington. From "Sestercentennial History of Hill Church": Among his own [John Caspar Stoever II's] membership, who had already been commissioned for the Continental Army, were his own son, John Caspar Stoever, Jr. of the Hill Church, as Captain of the First Company in Col. Philip Greenawalt's Battalion, and Philip Marsteller as Lieut-Colonel of the same battalion. He was connected with the Lebanon congregation, and had the distinction of being a member of the Pennsylvania Constitutional Convention; of rising to prominence during the Revolution as pay-master of the militia; and assistant forage master, for which services he received a letter of commendation from General Washington, at whose funeral in 1799 he was an honored pall-bearer. [Maybe Ada Cook was wrong, and it was John Casper III's commander Philip Marstellar, who was the pallbearer for Washington.] Found on-line, in a genealogy of Philip Marstellar: The book "George Washington" written by John Alexander and Carroll Mary Wells Ashworth, recounts George Washington's funeral: The General's horse, accoutered with his saddle, holsters and pistols, was led by the two postilions, Cyrus and Wilson, dressed in mourning. Col. Thomas Blackburn walked alone just ahead of the bier, which was born by four lieutenants of the Virginia militia. The six honorary pallbearers marched alongside, three to the left, three to the right. They were Colonels Charles Little, Charles Sims, William Payne, George Gilpin, Dennis Ramsay and Philip Marsteller. These friends of Washington's also were Masons, with the exception of Philip Marsteller, whose son, Philip G. Attended the funeral as a member of Lodge No. 22. From "A Genealogical Index of Miami Valley Pioneers, Ohio": Stoever (Staver, Stiver), Casper; John Casper Stover, born March 16, 1736, in Penna., died at Germantown, Ohio, July 1821. A grandson of the immigrant missionary, Johannes Casper Stoever. He served as a Captain in the Revolutionary War; married April 26, 1754, Barbara Nagel (the year 1757 is given as marriage date in church records; I tend to believe this).
