Notes for Lawrence Edward (Spouse 1)
Lawrence Edward Wehneman was born on June 21, 1896, in Covington, Ohio. He was married to Goldie Edora Mader on December 12, 1923. He taught school for a year in northwestern Ohio, then enlisted and served as a medic at the close of World War I. He was not sent overseas, but performed his duties in West Virginia. Lawrence and Goldie Wehneman had five children: Arthur Leslie, who has remained single and still lives on the family farm; twins George Edward and Hazel Irene, who married Merle Jackson and lives in Battle Creek, Michigan; Nola Jean, who married Marvin Hines and lives on a farm near Troy, Ohio; and Opal Frances, who married Virgil Taylor Kingrey and lives in Kansas City, Missouri. George Wehneman was born with spina bifida in 1926. He lived with his parents until 1948, when he died of complications connected with the affliction. Lawrence Wehneman spent his life in general farming and raising livestock. He died on June 24, 1975, at Dettmer Hospital in Troy, Ohio, after suffering a heart attack. From his funeral folder: God hath not promised skies always blue, Flower-strewn pathways allour lives through; God hath not promised sun without rain, Joy without sorrow, peace without pain. But God hath promised strength for the day, Rest for the labor, light for the way, Grace for the trials, help from above, Unfailing sympathy, undying love.
