Notes for Johann Christian "Christian" (Spouse 1)
The following information is in German (obviously!), and comes from an unknown source copied from microfilm at the LDS library in Olathe: Merckel 1296 (a reference number?) oo Christian M., r. Karl T. Smith, 7109 Erdrick St., Philadelphia 35, PA. DE 8-5066, com 19.2.1958). I don't speak German, but here's my translation: verkauft refers to sold and left; Vordergass is district. It talks about how in 1719 he sold his house in the district (to Dietrich Roth?) and left. I wonder if Katarina Bender could be Catharina Brucher? Christian did die in Pennsylvania in 1766. Could 1711 be a year of marriage? Kd must stand for "kinder"--children. If the first part is a birthdate, the dates don't match up, but the year is right. 1707 and 1779 are the years of birth and death for John Casper Stoever, and 1728 is the year he went to Pennsylvania. Patin might be sponsor (?)--baptismal sponsors were a big deal. Other information from the LDS library in Olathe, family files give the name as Christian Merckle, born in 1689 in Lambsheim.
