According to information received via email from Bob Bell, a Gebhart cousin, 3/99: John George Gebhart was a drummer in Maryland under Colonel/General Murdock. This service enabled him to claim land in the soldiers/sailors land in Ohio. The family went to Ohio in 1806 and settled in German Township, Montgomery Co.
