Their marriage license lists Anna's name as Anna Elizabeth Brodbirt. Maybe Ficken was her maiden name, but she'd been earlier married to a Brodbirt? Or vice versa?
The "1909 Biographical History of Miami County, Ohio" entry for John A. Wehneman, son of John Henry and Anna, lists her maiden name as Fichen. The family reunion history, written by Simon, Minnie and Hannah (their children) gives her maiden name as Ficken.
The Mormons' familysearch.org page lists John H. Wehnemann as having marrried Ann Elizabeth Prodbert on April 19, 1850. Same wedding date!
The Miami Valley Genealogical Index provides access to a marriage license issued to John Wehneman and Anna Brodbirt, also on the same wedding date. |

| Both John Henry Wehneman and his wife Anna are buried in Houston, Ohio. My grandmother Goldie Wehneman once told me that Anna Ficken was Wehneman's second wife, and that he divorced his first wife because she refused to sleep with him. I can find no evidence to support this except for the fact that John Henry Wehneman was in his thirties when he married Anna. |
